The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is the not-for-profit global humanitarian aid organization of the United Methodist Church. UMCOR is working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the United States. Our mission, grounded in the teachings of Jesus, is to alleviate human suffering—whether caused by war, conflict or natural disaster, with open hearts and minds to all people.
100% of your donation goes toward the intended recipient. UMCOR does not use any part of donations for administrative or office costs. Those funds are acquired through other means. This is unlike the American Red Cross, which only sends 91% of donations to the intended recipient. UMCOR maintains a presence in these locations long after other relief agencies have moved on.
UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and the 2013 tornadoes that devastated towns in Oklahoma and Illinois that are interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own.
With weather events, including excessive rain/flooding, tornadoes, and hurricanes, many communities have been significantly impacted by these disasters. You can help by donating to UMCOR #901670.
Simply click here for UMCOR's main page and click the red DONATE button You can designate which disaster you want your funds to go towards. Or click here to go directly to the secure donation link. Please select Illinois and Crossroads of Faith United Methodist (Bolingbrook, IL 60490) when you donate online.
Or, if you prefer, you may submit a donation via check made payable to Crossroads of Faith UMC and designate your request in the memo line for the response effort you wish to contribute to. Drop it in the offering plate and we'll make sure it gets to the right place.
